Fermented Rice water Hair Rinse

Hi all!

What caught my attention about fermented rice water rinse was that it was so easy to make and it did not require buying any extra products... I ALWAYS have rice in the pantry! (shout out to all the rice lovers).

Fermented rice water has been used for centuries by women in China, Japan and Southeast Asia for hair care. The Yao women from China are famed for their average hair length of about 6 inches. I mean!! they hold the Guinness Book of World Records for the "World's Longest hair Village". Even the International Journal of Cosmetic Science published a research on rice water rinses.

What Fermented Rice water is said to do:

  • Improves Shine
  • Improves Elasticity
  • Improves moisture retention
  • Strengthens hair

What i observed with using Fermented Rice water rinse:

  • It makes my hair  SUPER SOFT
  • My hair elasticity has increased, my hair is very springy and the shrinkage is REAL!!

How i use Fermented rice water rinse:

  • After washing and conditioning my hair, i pour the rice water over my hair.
  •  allow it sit for 3-5 mins.
  • Rinse out the rice water with clean water.

How to make Fermented Rice water:

You will need Rice!! lol

  1. Wash rice with tap water for a few minutes.
  2. Boil rice.
  3. Strain rice water.
  4. Transfer rice water to an airtight container
  5. Allow to ferment for 1 day or 2 days.
  6. Dilute before use

MY ADVICE TO ANYONE SEEKING TO GROW OUT THEIR NATURAL HAIR

Hi All!!!
I  have had a few friends and family tell me they were considering going natural, Now although i am
usually excited to hear this,  I never fail to ask the question why?

You know, the "why" is always important especially when the evil days of detangling come (lol, i don't mean to scare you).  But seriously, I always advice any one considering going natural to get informed. Where exactly do you get information?  I actually started out randomly searching natural hair blogs, YouTube videos ( oh my gosh!!!! ).Lets not talk about my addiction to You Tube, agreed?  Great!!

I am basically going to ramble about things i have learnt while stumbling along on this journey. Now don't get overwhelmed, stay with me, I have got you.

Scalp and Hair needs to be Cleansed

It is important to let your scalp breathe and be free from residue.(That's it, nothing profound, lol)

What I look out for:

Bun with Kinky hair Extensions (Marley hair)

So!!!!! i just got my hair out of kinky twists (kinky twist update coming soon), and i had a graduation ceremony to attend by the weekend.Against my better judgement to hang on to my kinky twist for a while longer, i gave in to taking them out because i missed my hair terribly.

Now i was reunited with my kinks but.......clueless on what to do with my hair, it sure can be stressful thinking of what style to wear especially when there's an event coming up (don't want to wind up looking like a hot mess cause my kinks are very unpredictable)

The hair style that won the style search was " Bun with kinky hair Extensions (Marley hair)".

Here's what i came up with by the wee hours of the night.

I liked the way the the extension blended with my hair, below is a picture of my hair with out the extension, Please excuse the sickly looking scrunchy, i actually used rubber  threads to hold the hair at the center, not so sure it qualifies to be called a pony tail though...

28 months of natural hair growth

Hi every one,

Its been ages since i last posted about my hair. A lot has been going on, and is still going on. I have not had time to do an in depth post on the specifics so this is a sketchy  documentation of  my hair  progress so far.

Without any further ado, here is what i have been up to .

Hair Regimens and Styles In my quest to find a simple regimen that is well suited for my busy student schedule, i have experimented with a few regimens. Am not going into details of my wash day, just the different wash day intervals i tried and a general over view of what i have been doing style wise.

Mini Mini twists   I tried spacing my wash day for a month and my choice of style was mini twist which lasted for two (2) months.
Pros

Easy and versatile stylingspent less than 10 mins on my hair each day (thinking about hair can be so tiresome at times, thank you mini twists for the break.)retained some lengthCon
OMG!!!!! hands down, my number one and only con  for this regime was the time it took t…
